The University of Kelaniya has been included in the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Less than 2,000 of the world’s 30,000 universities are included in what is widely accepted as the most prestigious and influential global university rankings. Our University is one of four Sri Lankan universities included in the 2024 rankings, and has achieved a world rank of 1500+ and a Sri Lanka rank of 3.

THE World University Rankings cover the three main areas of university activity: research, impact, and teaching. The rankings is the only global university league table that judges research-intensive universities across all their core missions and considers performance indicators across the five key areas of teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income. The rankings utilize data collected from surveys, bibliometric databases, and institutional data to evaluate universities holistically, capturing the full range of a university's activities and missions.
