Head's Message
"The Department of Software Engineering was established along with the establishment of the Faculty of Computing and Technology in the December, 2015. In line with the mission of the Faculty, the Department strives for excellence in the field of software engineering through innovation and dissemination of knowledge and capacity building for socio-economic development of the nation.
The department contributes to the Bachelor of Computer Science Honours Degree (BCS), and the Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology Degree Programmes (BICT) offered by the Faculty of Computing and Technology. The Software Engineering Department currently coordinates the Software Systems specialization pathway and the Games and Animation pathway in the BICT programme. The Department also co-ordinates the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence pathways offered for the BCS programme. The department offers programming and software related course modules for the Bachelor of Engineering Technology Programme as well.
The department is dedicated to the development of professionals who can create high-quality, cutting-edge, and cost-effective software solutions to real-world problems. The department provides a forward-thinking approach in an inclusive environment that encourages students to become pioneers in the field by developing in-depth knowledge through hands-on design of innovative products. As real-world construction of complex software systems is done by engineering teams, our curriculum focuses on team-based activities with an emphasis on collaboration and the design process."
