CNC Machining Workshop for FCT Students
CNC Machining Workshop for FCT Students
As part of the Faculty of Computing and Technology’s ongoing efforts to strengthen industrial collaboration, a practical session on Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining was successfully conducted in partnership with leading industry experts in Sri Lanka.
The workshop provided students with an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience using industry-grade CNC machines. In addition to the practical component, participants were introduced to key theoretical concepts, including CNC programming fundamentals, toolpath generation, and modern machining strategies.
Throughout the session, students benefited from:
Real-time exposure to advanced CNC machining systems
Industry insights into contemporary manufacturing practices
A clearer understanding of the complete design-to-production workflow
This initiative reflects the faculty’s commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry by equipping students with practical skills, technical confidence, and industry awareness. Such collaborative engagements continue to support the development of skilled graduates ready to contribute to Sri Lanka’s growing technological and manufacturing sectors.
