ICATC 2025 Pre-Conference Workshops
The 10th International Conference on Advances in Technology and Computing (ICATC) 2025, hosted by the Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya, showcased a series of pre-conference workshops from December 10th to 11th, offering researchers, students, and professionals hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools and methodologies in computing and ICT.
Workshop 1 - Empowering Humans with Augmented Human Technology
The first workshop, held on December 10th, focused on Augmented Human Technology. Renowned international experts Prof. Alistair McEwan & Assoc. Prof. Anusha Withana (University of Sydney, Australia), Prof. Masahiko Inami (University of Tokyo, Japan), and Prof. Hideki Koike (Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan) shared insights into Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and wearable technologies, followed by interactive discussions on research strategies and postgraduate opportunities.
Workshop 2 - MATLAB for Research: AI, Image Processing & Data Analytics in ICT
On December 11th, Dr. W.G.C.W. Kumara (Faculty of Engineering, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka) led a technical workshop on MATLAB applications for AI, image processing, and ICT data analytics. Participants gained practical experience in machine learning workflows, data visualization, and managing complex datasets, strengthening their research capabilities in data-intensive projects.
Workshop 3 - Research Writing with LaTeX
Also on December 11th, Dr. Shakila Pathirana (Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya) conducted a workshop on “Research Writing with LaTeX.” The session equipped early-career researchers and students with skills to produce publication-ready documents, covering document structure, citations, bibliographies, and complex tables and formulas, ensuring compliance with international academic standards.
