The Center for Advanced Materials and Smart Manufacturing (CAMSM) is operating with the overarching objective of promoting translational academic research and innovation, while creating a sustainable research ecosystem in FCT, in the domains of advance engineering and biosystems technologies including advanced materials, smart manufacturing, and environmental technologies contributing to the sustainable development of Sri Lanka.

CAMSM, FCT serves as the Administering Institution (AI) for the research project “Nano-encapsulation of active ingredients to make value added export-oriented nutraceutical products from Sri Lankan plant bio resources” conducted by Dr. Induni W. Siriwardane, which is funded by Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC) under the OWSD Early career research fellowship 2023, a UNESCO programme, hosted by The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS).
