The Research Center - Faculty of Computing and Technology (RC-FCT) will serve as the central hub for fostering academic research and innovation within the Faculty. It will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive support and guidance to faculty members on a variety of essential aspects, including strategic funding approaches, the preparation and submission of research proposals, and facilitating both inter-faculty and inter-university research collaborations.

The center will also assist in building partnerships with international research institutions, ensuring that faculty members are connected to global research networks. Furthermore, the RC-FCT will be instrumental in identifying and promoting innovative research areas, while also offering specialized guidance on the commercialization of research outcomes. This will be achieved through close coordination with the Industry Interaction Cell of FCT (IICFCT), which will help bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that research initiatives have practical and commercial value.

Main Functions of the RC-FCT

Promote the Research Culture

Direct the Advisory Board of the Faculty Research Centre to develop/promote research culture within the faculty
Facilitate interactions of researchers with outside researchers, institutions, industry partners and the community
Provide guidance and support in the career development activities of young faculty members who have research interests
Represent the faculty and report the development of research activities of the faculty at the Research Council Meetings

Assist in Funding Research

Provide information and advice to faculty on grants administration, financial management regulatory affairs, and personnel issues
Identify and procure critical equipment and core facilities for enhancing and maintaining common facilities for research
Maintain the records of the faculty research fund and provide information to the Research Council and the faculty as and when necessary
Assist in the procurement of funds to develop a sustaining structure for future development of the activities of the center

Publicize Research

Support in the preparation and publication of research papers, dissertation / theses by way of editing of research documents and maintenance of a databank of research publications
Advertise research strengths, related activities and promote research culture at the faculty
