Dr. (Mrs.) R. A. T. P. Rupasinghe - Department of Applied Computing won the award for the Outstanding Young Researcher Researcher in the Faculty of Computing and Technology.
Dr. Thilini P. Rupasinghe joined the Faculty of Computing and Technology in 2016 and currently serves as a Senior Lecturer attached to the Department of Applied Computing. She holds a Doctoral degree (in Materials Science) from University of Iowa, USA, Master’s degree (in Environmental & Nanochemistry) from University of Iowa, USA, and Bachelor’s degree specialized in Chemistry from University of Colombo. Dr. Rupasinghe has over 12 years’ experience in academia in both the United States and Sri Lanka.
Dr. Rupasinghe is a profound scholar mainly involved in material science and nanotechnology where she is working on the development of functional nanomaterials with enhanced properties for the applications in the fields of agriculture, electronics, pharmaceutics and environmental remediation. She has authored over 50 scientific publications including high impact journal articles, book chapters with over 1500 citations. In addition to material science and nanotechnology research, Dr. Rupasinghe is currently involved in research related to the development of innovative teaching and learning methodologies which aims at providing high quality undergraduate education and promoting life-long learning.
